A Word For Those Asking, “Why?”

What Is God Doing in This?

As I was spending time reflecting and waiting on the Lord, I found myself thinking about how often we ask God, "Why?”

But I believe there's a better question:

“Father, what are You doing in this?”

Throughout more than 20 years of ministry—including over nine years serving full-time through Kingdom Encounters International—I can easily look back on seasons of challenges, uncertainty, disappointment, and confusion. There have been many moments when I didn't have the answers and things didn't unfold the way I expected.

Yet one lesson the Lord has continually taught me is to ask,

“Father, what are You doing in this?”

When hardship, disappointment, or trials come, the greatest temptation is to blame God for our circumstances. We begin asking, "Why?" or "Where were You?"

But what if we changed our perspective?

Instead, ask:

Father, what are You doing in this situation?

That simple shift moves us from accusation to anticipation...from frustration to recognition.

What are we recognizing?

We begin recognizing that His hand is still at work.
We see how He's arranging pieces we could never have fit together ourselves. We remember that He is God, and we are not.

As we recognize His faithfulness, our worship deepens. Our pursuit of Him grows stronger. Our trust becomes steadier.

Rather than searching for evidence that He is absent, we begin discovering the countless ways He has been present all along.

Today, seek Him with all your heart.

And as you seek Him, recognize that He is always working—even when you cannot yet see what He is doing. One of life's greatest joys is learning to recognize His fingerprints in every season.
