A BRIDE IN PROCESS, But Still His Beloved
We are the church of Jesus Christ.
We are human.
We make mistakes.
We tear each other down in our pride, self-righteousness, or in the name of trying to steward our responsibility to protect the flock.
We have many diversities and differences of opinions.
We seasonally lack and other times are abundant.
We suffer, and we win.
We sometimes walk in pride more than humility. We sometimes point fingers at others more than ourselves. We take the glory when it’s only God’s, and other times are more concerned with ourselves more than others.
We are imperfect, we are weak, we are divided, and our denominational lines create more divide than unity.
Through our denominations, we attempt to protect good doctrine but often forsake love in our stubbornness. Our five-fold ministries tear others down to make themselves look better, while others don’t believe five-fold ministry still exists at all. We fight about the Holy Spirit’s power, and neglect His leading while the enemy wages war against our very soul.
We are a mess.
And yet, we are God’s plan. Through our imperfections and weakness, we realize our need of Him. Through our pride, we fall and are humbled and see His glorious face. Through our division and pointing of fingers, we say things we regret; then we reflect and come together when we forgive and see how Jesus forgave. Others hold their bitterness far too long, but His kindness always leads to repentance, even to the point of being the very thief on the cross next to Jesus.
Our denominations will fall away eventually; our ministries will stop fighting when the planks in their eyes pierce their hearts at the feet of Jesus.
There is only one found worthy. Only one to open the scroll at the end.
And we are His plan. We are His prize. We are the very beating of His heart. The church of Jesus Christ. The Bride that wages war against each other. And still He loves us. And still, we are His plan. And still, He desires us.
Jesus, I’m so sorry. Help us to be the bride that you are excited to return for. Prepare us. Ready our hearts. And however you intend to prepare us, may we be found ready. I love you. 😭🙏🏽
